Fire Damage Air Quality Inspection
What Remains After a Fire
Once the fire is out and the immediate emergency is over, the air quality problem is not. Combustion byproducts, particulate matter, and smoke residue penetrate building materials, settle into HVAC systems, and circulate through the structure long after visible flames and smoke are gone.
These compounds, which include carbon particles, volatile organic compounds released during combustion, and chemical residues from burned materials, can pose significant health risks for anyone re-entering the structure without a clear picture of what is present.
Why an Air Quality Inspection Matters Before Restoration
Restoration teams work more effectively when they have documented baseline data about what is in the air and on surfaces. Our inspection provides that documentation. It identifies where concentrations are highest, which areas require priority attention, and what specific compounds are present, allowing the restoration scope to be targeted and accurate.
Skipping this step often results in incomplete remediation, with residue remaining in areas that were not identified as affected.
What We Assess
- Airborne particulate matter concentrations throughout the structure
- VOC levels from combustion byproducts and burned materials
- Smoke residue distribution using visual inspection and surface sampling
- HVAC system contamination
- Moisture conditions that may create secondary mold concerns in the weeks following a fire
What You Receive
- A documented inspection report with photographs of affected areas
- Air and surface sampling results from independent laboratory analysis
- A summary of findings organized by severity and location
- Recommendations for restoration scope and sequencing
Sampling and Lab Analysis
When conditions warrant, we collect air and surface samples and send them to an independent certified laboratory. Results are included in the inspection report and can be shared directly with restoration contractors, insurance adjusters, and property owners.
Serving Homeowners, Property Managers, and Restoration Companies
We work directly with homeowners and property managers as well as with restoration contractors who need documented pre-remediation data for their records and insurance purposes. Contact us to discuss the scope and timing.
